WellKnown Moving Company provides professional long-distance moving services from Boston to New York, handling the entire process—from planning to delivery.
Most issues with moves from Boston to New York stem from timing, parking, and building regulations. A truck may arrive, but there’s nowhere to park in Back Bay, or a building in Manhattan may refuse entry without a COI. These kinds of situations can lead to delays or additional costs.
Most Boston–New York moves take one to two days, but timing often depends on building access and delivery windows in NYC. As an FMCSA-registered moving company, we handle long-distance moves of any size with full compliance and professional standards. You can also read customer reviews to get an idea of how we operate. You can also check out our reviews on Google and Yelp.
We tailor a plan for each move, detailing the pickup and delivery process. If you’re moving from an apartment in Boston with limited parking to a condo in Manhattan with strict time windows, we first secure a spot for the truck in Boston and then schedule delivery based on the time allowed by the building in New York. We plan our work with potential issues in mind. In Boston, we arrange parking in advance through the City of Boston Parking Clerk so the crew doesn’t lose hours on long carries. In neighborhoods like Allston or Fenway, especially during peak moving season, this directly impacts the speed and efficiency of the move. In New York, access to the building is often a challenge. We coordinate everything in advance with building managers and work in accordance with New York City Department of Transportation requirements, including truck placement, timing, and compliance with regulations. In areas like Midtown or the Financial District, access is often only possible through loading docks and strictly on a schedule, as is the case at One New York Plaza. We handle the COI paperwork, booking, and scheduling so you won’t be turned away at the door.
Every move is supervised by an experienced foreman with at least three years of experience in long-distance moving. All our movers have undergone background checks and received the necessary training. For every move, we use professional equipment, protective materials, and tools for disassembling furniture and transporting it safely. We adhere to the necessary industry standards to ensure your belongings are protected at every stage.
We offer a full range of packing services—from assistance with fragile items to complete packing of an apartment or house. We use professional materials and techniques to ensure the safety of furniture, appliances, and personal belongings during transport. If your move-out and move-in dates don’t align, we provide secure storage. This is especially important in New York City, where access to a building often depends on available time slots and elevator reservations. We can temporarily store your belongings and deliver them when it’s possible.
For small moves, such as studios or one-bedroom apartments, no complex estimate is required—simply let us know about any large items, and we’ll quickly provide an accurate estimate. For more complex moves, we offer not only an in-home estimate but also a convenient Virtual Estimate option, which allows you to coordinate everything remotely. After booking, you’ll have access to your personal account, where you can track the status of your move and create a detailed inventory. The more accurately you fill out the list of items, the more precise the estimate and overall planning of the entire process will be.
For long-distance moves, we use flat-rate pricing with no hidden fees. Carrying items up stairs, using elevators, disassembling furniture, and packing are all included in the price. Additional charges may apply only for the transport of particularly heavy or non-standard items. A deposit is required to secure your move date and is fully refundable if canceled at least two weeks in advance.
Basic liability coverage is included in every move at no extra cost.
In New York, you can find housing for every preference. It’s important to pay special attention to the moving process. In many buildings, especially in Manhattan, you must arrange your move in advance. This usually involves reserving a service elevator and providing a Certificate of Insurance (COI). Without this, the building may simply refuse entry. In areas like Midtown or the Financial District, unloading is often only possible through loading zones and strictly scheduled time slots, as is the case at One New York Plaza, for example.
Unlike in Boston, you cannot simply reserve a spot for a truck in New York. In New York, much depends on availability and the rules set by the New York City Department of Transportation, which affect the distance from the vehicle to the entrance and the speed of unloading.
You can find more information about the city and applicable regulations on the official New York City website.
