The crew protects the furniture, loads the shipment, and places items in the rooms listed in the scope at delivery. How the Chicago Pickup Becomes a Charlotte Delivery
This long-distance move starts with a confirmed inventory and a workable access plan for the Chicago address. The lead mover reviews the written scope, protects the property, wraps the listed furniture, and supervises loading. Before the truck leaves, the coordinator also needs the Charlotte receiving contact, legal unloading position, and building access window. The customer must make sure the destination is approved and ready to receive the shipment.
The route covers approximately 755 miles. A passenger car may complete the drive in about 11 hours and 46 minutes, but a loaded moving truck requires a more realistic 13–14 hours of driving. That does not include loading, unloading, inspections, required breaks, or delays along the route. Under the FMCSA property-carrier hours-of-service rules, a driver may drive for up to 11 hours after the required off-duty period and cannot drive beyond the 14th consecutive on-duty hour. Planning the Charlotte Arrival
Charlotte’s commercial-vehicle rules differ from Chicago’s. Inside the area bounded by I-77 and I-277, large and medium commercial vehicles may not stop, stand, or park on public streets from 7:00–9:00 a.m. or 4:00–6:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Residential parking controls also operate in areas such as First Ward, Third Ward, Fourth Ward, Dilworth, and Wilmore. Before delivery, confirm the dock or elevator window, gate instructions, key access, and approved unloading position.
