The crew dispatches from our Chicago location at 433 W Van Buren St, Suite 1100N, with service supported by our broader Illinois and Texas moving coverage. Dallas is the delivery destination; WellKnown does not have an office there.
The pickup and delivery addresses often need different arrangements. A Chicago pickup may involve a legal curb position, alley approach, reserved service elevator, loading dock, or Certificate of Insurance. The Dallas property may require a gate code, HOA approval, dock slot, elevator reservation, keys, or a truck position that works for the site. The usual corridor follows I-55, I-44, US-69, and US-75. Dispatch may use another truck-legal approach when closures, weather, or address access make that necessary.
We prepare the written flat-rate estimate from the inventory, access at both addresses, timing, packing or storage needs, and the services included in the scope. Before booking, disclose stairs, elevator restrictions, long carries, alleys, docks, gate access, unusually large or fragile items, and building deadlines. We document approved changes to the inventory, access, or services before updating the move plan.
The crew leaves our Chicago location with an equipped moving truck, furniture blankets, shrink-wrap, dollies, straps, and floor protection. The interstate shipment operates under USDOT #4224986 and MC-1633615. Our in-house crew loads in Chicago, protects the listed furniture, transports the shipment, and unloads into the customer-agreed rooms at the confirmed Dallas address. We can issue a COI after you provide the property's exact wording and deadline.
A Chicago-to-Dallas move is planned around two address-specific handoffs. Before pickup, the coordinator reviews the legal truck position, service entrance, stairs, elevator or dock reservation, long-carry distance, and COI instructions. Before delivery, the customer reconfirms the Dallas curb or driveway, dock, gate, elevator, keys, building contact, and approved move hours. Our long-distance moving team checks current conditions through official traveler systems for Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas. Send access changes to the coordinator before pickup or delivery so the written scope and operating plan stay accurate.
The planning distance is approximately 925 miles, or about 14 hours by passenger car. A loaded moving truck may need roughly 16 to 18 hours of driving before loading, unloading, inspections, fuel stops, urban access, and required rest are counted. Under FMCSA hours-of-service rules, a property-carrying driver may generally drive for up to 11 hours after 10 consecutive hours off duty and may not drive beyond the 14th consecutive on-duty hour. Same-day delivery is not available. The next day is the earliest possible arrival, but it is not guaranteed. Delivery typically takes 2 to 4 business days. Dallas access depends on the exact property. A managed apartment may require a dock slot, service elevator, concierge approval, or COI. A gated or HOA-controlled property may require a gate code, guard instructions, move-hour approval, and enough turning space for the truck. The customer must keep keys and legal access available throughout the written delivery window. In hot weather, ask the coordinator which belongings should travel with you, especially medications, documents, plants, candles, and temperature-sensitive artwork or electronics. Review current guidance and hazards through the National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas. If a closing, repair, lease start, or access date changes, arrange storage before delivery instead of waiting until the truck reaches the curb.
🏙️ Dallas access check: Confirm private-property requirements with the leasing office, property manager, concierge, HOA, or homeowner. When a public-street procedure is unclear, contact Dallas 311 or the city's Department of Transportation and Public Works. Do not treat a curb space as reserved until the responsible authority or property confirms it.

We develop a customized long-distance moving plan and determine the timing of the move. At this stage you need to decide whether you are doing the packing yourself or using our professional packing service. If you need additional services, we’ll discuss them during the call.
On the appointed day and time, we arrive at the location in Chicago. If packing is included, we can do it on moving day or one to several days in advance. We recommend that the customer be present during this stage.
Then we move straight to the final location in Dallas or stop at the storage facility, if this service has been purchased. We carefully unload all your belongings, place items in the agreed locations and reassemble the furniture. If arranged, we help unpack all items.
After the move, we’re available to answer questions and provide support. If anything is missing or damaged, contact us as soon as possible and we’ll work with you to resolve the issue.

A packed one-bedroom apartment with a reserved Chicago service elevator and direct Dallas driveway access needs a different operating plan than a Chicago walk-up with a long curb carry followed by a Dallas high-rise delivery with a dock slot, elevator window, and COI deadline. The map distance may be similar, but the handling time, crew plan, building access, and service scope are different.
The documented flat rate includes the in-house crew, equipped truck, fuel, tolls, mileage, loading, transport, unloading, customer-agreed room placement, standard furniture wrapping, floor and door protection, and basic disassembly and reassembly of listed standard furniture.
